Visit a small part of underground Dundee from the 1600’s as we tell tales of the area from bygone eras. Dark subject matter told in an informative and humorous way by two local guides.

This walking tour is suitable for most ages and walking abilities but please be aware there are stairs to climb both with and without handrails. We’ve added a few things for you to read and look at in the vaults too – so bring your reading glasses if you need them!

Just back from the vault tour, absolutely brilliant. Louise and Stuart certainly know their history, very informative, I was amazed with things I never knew about Dundee. Pauline B, on Trip Advisor
My teenage daughter and I went on the vaults tour in Dundee and absolutely loved it! … I would 100% recommend a dark Dundee tour for anyone either from Dundee or visiting. Meander232753, on Trip Advisor

Absolutely fantastic tour! Was there with my partner and 13 year old daughter and we all loved it! Thanks to Louise and Stuart absolutely fantastic tour guides

If you listen to the fantastic stories right from the off from your hosts you will not be disappointed
Louise & Stuart are by far the best double act I’ve seen in a long time,
Captivated by the ebb and flow of there delivery and historical facts were great brought with a straight (Louise) & cheeky chappie comedian (Stuart) style which adds Spice to the tour
Once my wife and I we’re back to the surface with a sense and feeling of time travellers !!! Great Scot!!!!
Thanks again and look forward to our next adventure 👍

As an exiled Dundonian I was bowled over by Stuart and Louise, our groups tour guides, with their interesting and historical stories from the 13th to 20th century, all delivered with humour as well as fact. They taught our group a lot about Dundee and it’s turbulent times. Pure dead brilliant!!! Highly recommended

My better half has a love of Dundee history, so as a wee surprise I booked the vault tour. Fantastic hour of education and plenty laughs. Can’t believe we have lived in Dundee all our lives and shamefully I knew so little about it. I blame it on the schools. Can’t recommend this tour highly enough. Louise and Stuart a wonderful double act. So looking forward to our Steeple tour.

Fabulous tour. Highly recommend. Louise and Stuart know their history and deliver stories and facts brilliantly together and it sounds fresh and exciting, even though they’ve probably spoken the same information over and over. Will be booking another one next time in in Dundee.

If you’ve never done it yet, Dundee Tours is a must. Insightful, informative, funny and full of historical facts from Stuart and Louise that range from the 13th century to the 20th century. Cool locations and good atmosphere.

Cheers again, and look forward to the next one…

Dark Dundee Vaults Tour. Outstanding tour with lots of excellent information about Dundee’s past history. Louise and Stuart were brilliant very helpful telling us interesting tales about life in Dundee. Being two ex Dundonians it was great to be back home again. Can highly recommend this tour and hoping to be able to get back for The Ferry Tour as I grew up there another fascinating tour to look forward to. So Dark Dundee get 10/10 for their hard work and dedication. It really is good to find out more about the history of Dundee. Keep up the good work guys will definitely be back. Mandy and Liz.

InterestIng tour with two knowledgable guides. Like the “patter” that they both have rehearsed admirably. Would like to have seen more locations but maybe they will probably add to the tour as more locations become available. To be recommended.

The comment above is in relation to a booking for a different tour, our Murder tour (ran throughout October). We did sadly have to cancel tours for tonight at the last minute, which we’ve apologised to all our customers for and we will make it right by putting on other tours and rescheduling, and refunding tickets where we can’t.

This was a genuine medical emergency of my fellow co-owner (it’s not my medical details to disclose but Stewart has posted on our DD Tours Facebook page about what has happened if you want to confirm), and yes it genuinely just the two of us who run the business and all of the tours together, they are a double act and can’t go ahead with just one of us – both of us must be there. Annette, we have already refunded your ticket and I will be at the Old Steeple for the tour time you were booked in for in case your guests can’t be contacted beforehand to let them know. And to everyone else reading this, this is the only time in nearly 4 years of running the tours that we have had to cancel a tour due to illness, it is not something we did lightly and we will be doing everything we can to make it up to everyone who booked. If anyone else has a concern with their booking for tonight (Wednesday 30th October) and we haven’t already spoken with you then please get in touch with us.

Excellent Tour of City Vaults which was done as a private tour for my son Steven’s 30th Birthday. All members of our family raved about and felt it was a real asset to Dundee ‘s Tourism. Only suggestion was perhaps giving out a laminated nap at beginning of tour to orientation those not from Dundee to the streets in the stories. However its only a suggestion as it was a party fro Dundee and outwith, they all thought tour was fantastic!
