We can arrange a private tour any day and time we are available, and for any sort of group including: hen party; stag party; birthdays; work night’s out; teambuilding groups; corporate visitors or entertainment; reunions; charity groups; educational groups from primary to college / university level; or just a group of friends or family.
Starting with a dragon and ending with cannibals, this tour takes some of Dundee’s old tales and explores what arms and legs have been added over the years…Starting at the dragon statue on High Street and ending in Peter Street via Castle Street and Seagate, we discuss some of the oldest and the most ‘well-known’ stories, such as the tale of the Nine Maidens, where Castle St got it’s name, William Wallace’s time in the city and the Tay Whale…all before we end with a cannibal story!
|START/END LOCATION||High St (beside the dragon statue) / Peter Street, just off Murraygate|
|DEPARTURE TIME||Please arrive 5 minutes before your tour begins for a prompt departure.|
|TOUR LENGTH||Approximately 1 hour|
|WEAR||Comfortable clothing, preferably waterproof!|
The hunt starts in the city square, right in the middle of the city centre just off High Street, at the bottom of Reform Street. This is within 2 minutes walk of all city centre hotels, the bus and train station and the stops of all major bus routes in the city.
There is ample parking available with the closest multi-storey car parks at the Overgate Centre, Gellatly Street and the Gallacher Retail Park.
There are no stairs on this tour, but there are some narrow cobbled paths and some roads to cross without dips in the pavement. The route runs from the High St, down Castle St, along Exchange St, up Commercial St then along the Seagate to Peter St. There are some points with high levels of traffic which can cause lots of background noise. If you have any concerns about accessibility then please get in touch with us.
