Lighting up the Law

It’s United Nations Day today, which marks the anniversary of the United Nations Charter in 1945. With the agreement of this founding document by the majority of its participants, including the five permanent members of the Security Council, the United Nations officially came into being. October 24th has been celebrated as United Nations Day since 1948 throughout the world and include activities organized by all parts of the UN, particularly in their main offices: New York, Netherlands, Switzerland, Austria and Kenya. Some of which include concerts and flying or displaying of the UN flag.

Here at Dark Dundee, we are delighted that The Law will once again be part of United Nations Day 2014 with the war memorial being lit to show Dundee’s appreciation and involvement in the Charter. The memorial will be lit with a large flame at the summit tonight but if you can’t be part of it tonight, don’t worry, the summit is also lit to remember Battle of Loos (25th September) and Armistice Day (11 November).

Look up tonight and see this flame shining bright as we celebrate United Nations Day 2014. #HappyBirthdayUN
